you will need:
☾ black eyeliner (pencil or liquid, the sharper the better)  
☾ a mirror, cracked or whole  
☾ your favorite song that sounds like velvet bruises  
☾ one steady breath  

instructions:
1. draw a single line on your wrist, like sealing ink.  
2. whisper “stay dark, stay soft” into the mirror three times.  
3. let the music spill into the room until the eyeliner dries.  
4. carry the mark with you. it fades, but the spell doesn’t.  

notes:
if you smudge it, that’s good luck.  
if it runs, it means you’ve been seen.
